The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is a membership organization of 67,000 pediatricians and approximately 500 staff committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. The AAP promotes pediatrics and advances child health priorities by developing policy, conducting research, building coalitions, raising public awareness, funding community-based projects, and supporting training and professional education for our membership.
Mission: The mission of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is to attain optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. To accomplish this mission, the AAP shall support the professional needs of its members.
The AAP atmosphere is more like a business office, not a doctor’s office; and we work on behalf of children, not with children. Our two locations consist of our main headquarters located in Itasca, IL with approximately 475 employees, and our satellite location in Washington DC with 15 employees. The AAP staff works hard to support our members who dedicate their efforts to improve the health, safety and well-being of infants, children, adolescents and young adults.
