The Human Resources Generalist partners with Smithfield’s HR Field Operations leadership team and business partners, supporting a wide range of HR specialties in the field operations’ space, including the organization and analysis of metrics, assisting with project management of several HR initiatives, participation and/or leading continuous improvement programs that help clarify/align the field HR community and provides overall support for the HR field operation team’s initiatives, goals and objectives. 

This role will be an integral member of the HR team, focused on helping the field HR team be great business partners, help make great business decisions and ensures the team remains focused on positively impacting the people experience through cultural alignment, succession planning and project management support for a variety of strategic and administrative initiatives.

• Provides generalist support to the Field Senior HR leadership and Regional HR Directors and may be the back up for the HR Business Partners as required
• Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
• Recommends and leads HR Continuous Improvement projects to align, integrate and streamline HR processes, policies and practices
• Assists with day-to-day Field HR initiatives
• Monitors and tracks field operations’ metrics such as turnover, retention, “plant health checks” and other metrics defined by the Senior HR Leadership Team
• Partner closely with the broader HR team in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all platform employees.
• Assists with onboarding of new field HR team members
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of HR department and services performed.
• Assist with internal and external HR audits; participates in the collection and submittal of supporting documentation for review; assists with responding to audit inquiries and recommendations.
• Provide project management support for HR initiatives:
  • Document and socialize project scope.
  • Establish project plans and target timelines.
  • Identify, resolve, and escalate issues, risks, action items, and decisions.
  • Develop and deliver reporting and tracking of project budgets, when relevant.
  • Document and report project status to key stakeholders.
