Job Purpose and Impact

The Principal Scientist - Innovation will act as an integrated project manager for medium to large multidisciplinary innovation driven projects. In this role, you will apply expertise in innovation management to significant innovation projects from ideation to implementation and commercial launch.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams to plan and deliver innovation driven projects, integrating all aspects including business case development, commercial desirability, product or process development and scaleup, intellectual property and regulatory and safety reviews.
• Communicate with project stakeholders and manage diverse expectations, ensure business and strategic alignment, document progress and prepare gate review and key project documents.
• Develop a viable business case documenting and tracking business case assumptions and risks.
• Partner collaboratively with the new business development team to identify customer desirability through experimentation, prototyping, value propositions and market assessments.
• Oversee product and process technology development and transition from lab scale demonstration to piloting to startup.
• Ensure safe execution of all project activities at all stages from ideation through development and implementation to startup.
• Other duties as assigned
• Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Project management skills and experience

• Minimum of six years of related work experience

• Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or other post-secondary degree

• Experience in a manufacturing or process development environment

• Experience in a business or product development environment

• Confirmed skills and experience with agile project management techniques

• Experience in white space innovation in the protein industry

• Experience working in animal protein R&D
