Job Overview
The Sourcing Category Manager acts as a liaison between University stakeholders, suppliers and our Strategic Sourcing Department to ensure all informational and financial needs are met for all projects and strategic sourcing requirements. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Negotiate cost-effective master service agreements with key suppliers, which translate into higher savings, rebates, and discounts, university benefits, and cost savings
Analyze and calculate procurement costs and developing cost reduction strategies
Drive purchasing decisions based on cost and scenario analysis, as well as market trends.
Negotiate master service agreements with key suppliers, including costs and terms of supply, service, and quality.
These categories include but are not limited to Marketing, Auditing, Consulting, Research, Transportation, Audio/Visual & Conferencing, Books & Media, Cloud Solutions & Services, Delivery, Mail & Freight, Food Service, IT Services & Hardware, Lab Supplies, and Office Equipment & Supplies, etc.
They also collaborate with the sourcing analyst to identify and pursue new supplier opportunities; conduct market research and create cost estimates and forecasts; estimate risks and apply risk-minimizing techniques; maintain strategic sourcing relationships and develop strong partnerships; and establish modern methods for gathering and acting upon feedback received.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Sourcing Category Manager works with partners throughout the University, including faculty and staff, to ensure our suppliers provide excellent service and pricing.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in applicable field of study - preference for an MBA
5+ years category data analytics and/or spend management programs
Superior customer services and communication skills
Ability to make effective use of quantitative and qualitative data to support decision-making
Ability to gather, analyze and report on data through Excel and other data tools
Strong leadership presence and ability to effectively present to a variety of audiences
Preferred qualification
Experience in the higher education sector
