Enrolling more than 5,000 students, BSU offers more than 70 undergraduate majors and nine graduate degrees encompassing arts, sciences and select professional programs. The Assistant Director of Admissions, Graduate Programs is responsible for recruitment and working through the admission process with graduate students. This individual will be developing and updating communication flows for the respective programs, working to create and sustain recruitment marketing with faculty to ensure the programs are represented accurately. The overarching goal of this position is to increase awareness and enrollment of Bemidji State University graduate offerings. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director of Admissions, the position will focus on building annual recruitment plans, implementing marketing plans, and building and providing funnel analysis for each graduate program at Bemidji State University.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Admissions, Graduate Programs include:
Developing and managing graduate recruitment and marketing to build awareness of Bemidji State University graduate programs. (60%)
Recruiting students and working with prospects, applicants, and admitted students through the entrance process for each graduate program at Bemidji State University. Partner with the Director of Graduate Studies and academic departments for next step processes.
Collaborating with university faculty, staff, and campus offices to develop a holistic recruitment marketing plan for the School of Graduate Studies and individual associated graduate programs.
Developing and managing advertising campaigns, including the negotiations of contracts, development of print and digital collateral materials and management of project timelines in collaboration with the Executive Director of Admissions, Executive Director of the Office of Communication and Marketing, the Director of Graduate Studies, and external partners/agencies.
Evaluating market and demographic data to assess outcomes and analyze the data in conjunction with the Executive Director of Admissions and Director of Graduate Studies.
Collaborating and communicating with BSU Office of Marketing and Communications on a regular basis to maintain transparency in efforts across campuses.
Collaborating with the Executive Director of Admissions, Director of Graduate Studies, and Office of Marketing and Communications to execute an ongoing plan of developing the BSU School of Graduate Studies website.
Attending in-person and virtual graduate fairs on behalf of BSU's School of Graduate Studies representing the university's graduate program offerings.
Developing and implementing a communication strategy and communication flow for the graduate programs within the BSU School of Graduate Studies. (30%)
Developing and implementing an annual communication plan under the supervision of the Executive Director of Admissions and Director of Graduate Studies.
Engaging with the Director of Graduate Studies, academic departments, current graduate students, and alumni to create content for electronic and print communications.
Managing electronic communication messaging within the CRM in conjunction with the CRM Analyst. Leverage the CRM to improve enrollment yields.
Collaborating with internal and external partners to develop and execute communication and outreach efforts to historically under-represented populations.
Working with university partners and the Office of Communication and Marketing regarding social media strategies and implementation.
Creating efficient and effective communication templates for the School of Graduate Studies.
Budget. (5%)
Planning and managing the annual recruitment marketing budget for the BSU School of Graduate Studies advertising, publications, special events and inquiry management functions.
Tracking expenditures and ROI.
Performing other duties as assigned. (5%)
Required Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's degree.
Three (3) years of full-time work experience in a related position and/or field, such as student recruitment, communication, journalism, recruitment marketing, community or public relations, fundraising/development and/or sales.
Knowledge of relevant computer hardware and software applications, preferably to include MS Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

Master's degree in a field relating to the position goals including, but not limited to, education, leadership, communication, of business; and/or four (4) or more years of admissions or advising experience in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to working with diverse cultures and populations.
Ability to develop and maintain meaningful interpersonal relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience and skills with web/internet resources, media production and/or recruitment marketing and public relations activities.
Strong oral, written and electronic communication skills, including editing/copy writing abilities and the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability for developing and analyzing data.
Experience working as part of a team and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-based, quality-driven environment.
Knowledge and experience of Adobe Suite.
Website content management software and procedures (WordPress).
Data entry and database applications (ISRS, DARS) for records and reports.
