Per Colorado C.R.S. § 8-5-101, the estimated salary range for this role is $120,000-$140,000. Compensation will be determined by the education, experience, and abilities of the applicant.
The Director, Export Services is responsible for the coordination and development of the technical aspects supporting USMEF’s exporter members by enabling and assisting exporter’s expanding sales of new and established red meat items and processed products in the international markets. The principal responsibilities of this position fall within the following four broad areas: (a) providing technical guidance and education to USMEF exporter members seeking new or continued access to selected export markets; (b)acting as the liaison between the exporters and USDA/USTR on technical market access issues; and (c) helping to identify export opportunities; and (d) assisting other USMEF staff with recruiting members and reaching out to exporting companies.
Provide regulatory export information and market advice to USMEF exporter members in resolving technical market access issues in specific markets or through the export certification process
Work with other USMEF staff to evaluate and understand the technical aspects of market access issues and develop options for resolving those issues
With the Senior Director, Export Services, act as a liaison between USMEF exporter members and the USDA in resolving technical market access issues
Work with industry associations and partners as needed to further market access priorities with the U.S. government
Identify opportunities for expanded sales of new and established red meat items (commodity and further processed) in export markets and work with USMEF exporter members to capitalize on these opportunities
Spearhead business development activities targeted to exporter members; specific activities could include new product development and product merchandizing assistance, and training on international country requirements, product specifications, food safety, meat science and technology, packaging, and web page services
Recognize product trends and future potential opportunities in domestic and international markets
Collaborate for the development and delivery of technical education to customers and government officials in export markets
Coordinate with the Industry Relations department in expanding USMEF’s exporter membership and strengthening relations with exporter members
An advanced degree in meat/animal/food science, agriculture economics or an agricultural-related field preferred; however, related experience working with U.S. government agencies may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
Minimum 10 years’ experience working with U.S. government agencies to develop and implement strategies for resolving technical market access issues desired
Detailed knowledge of red meat packing and processing operations preferred, such as experience in red meat manufacturing and exports, red meat export sales, marketing, and/or merchandising
Demonstrated ability to think and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
Strong computer skills and proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work effectively under pressure of tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and multiple tasks
Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to a team approach
Public speaking skills necessary
Culturally attuned; bilingual skills a plus; international exposure helpful
