RISK & LICENSING SPECIALIST
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the annual renewal of the Sleeman corporate insurance program, including abstract collection and review, data management, invoice processing and submission.
- Manage the day to day insurance requirements including administration and maintenance of bonds, tracking required changes to SOV/warehouse locations, and liaising with our insurance broker; Ensure inventory values are complete and submitted on time to the appropriate stakeholders.
- Request certificates of insurance for business units; review/approve contractor coverage and variance requests
- Maintain ongoing Sleeman fleet insurance requirements; Work with insurance adjusters in the administration of auto claims related to fleet vehicles; Maintain and update list of drivers of fleet vehicles covered under Sleeman insurance; Administer the vehicle licensing and insurance process for BC and other regions as required.
- Lead the driver abstract review process including maintenance of national log of drivers, collecting consents, applying for, and reviewing drivers abstracts annually in compliance with the criteria of insurability.
- Maintain US workers compensation requirements and payments
- Responsible for regulatory compliance review and approval of packaging for Sleeman established products, such as beer brands; liaise with the Marketing and Technical teams throughout the new packaging review process.
- Facilitate all license applications, amendments, and renewals for the Company; Facilitate the applications and renewals for various excise licenses
- Proactively conduct regulatory research for both Canada and the US, and flag areas of risk or required attention for internal stakeholders.
- Conduct the legal billing review process, ensuring all bills are accurate and in compliance with Sleeman legal billing guidelines. Liaise with legal counsel to resolve discrepancies, as necessary.
- Maintain and update Compliance Checklist to monitor compliance and resolve non-compliant items
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining an evolving document management system which includes both paper files required for audit, as well as a team Cooler site.
- Identify and recommend improvements to established processes; coordinate prioritization and implementation of improvements using appropriate tools, systems, and techniques
- Assist with various special projects/requests, as required
- Comply with all policies, processes, and legislated standards.
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- Post-secondary education or certification in risk management, commercial insurance, or another related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in administration or management of insurance and risk, or similar compliance role.
- Experience with legal research/working with regulations/regulated industry
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing business environment
- Knowledge of production processes in a manufacturing/supply chain environment considered a strong asset
- Strong understanding of provincial variances in alcohol and beverage regulations and compliance requirements, and/or experience in food industry, considered an asset
- Strong sense of urgency; experience managing competing priorities;
- Ability to adapt quickly to a changing work environment

- Writing skills/communication skills (i.e., briefing docs, formal correspondence to regulators)
