Federated Hermes has a unique opportunity for a Municipal Bond Trader on our Fixed Income Trading desk, supporting management of $6.7 billion in municipal bond assets that span across a wide range of GO and Revenue bond issues and credit qualities, to include the volatile high yield and below investment grade markets. An individual with solid computer skills and a pro-technology mindset is especially necessary to help navigate the volatility associated with trading these high yield securities. The Municipal Bond Trading desk is part of the Federated Hermes Fixed Income Group, which manages $86 billion, including all major sectors the US bond market.

The municipal trader plays a critical role in the investment process by obtaining best execution of the portfolio managers orders and by providing market analysis and data to the municipal fixed income group while working with new and existing technology to improve workflow efficiency and over-all fund performance.
Execute electronic and voice trades while monitoring cash flows in the funds and reconciling daily cash balances
Proactively distribute market information to portfolio managers and research analysts predicated on a detailed knowledge of current market climate, potential product development, and assigned investment vehicles
Liaise with operations and other fixed income business colleagues to maintain and enhance workflow efficiency, monitor risk and improve communication
Enhance our vendor electronic trading relationships and integration efforts and improve workflow efficiency through use of technology and systems
Lead and participate in trading meetings and discussions about municipal and fixed income markets
Develop and maintain a working rapport with sales coverage and dealer community
Minimum 5 years of fixed income or municipal trading experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree required (Math, Accounting or Business related major preferred) or relevant experience in lieu of degree
Knowledge of mutual funds or securities required
Exposure to fixed income markets preferred
Solid computer skills; Excel, VBA, Python knowledge or willingness to learn, preferred
Excellent oral communication, relationship building, negotiating and interpersonal skills required
