It serves all students and seeks to create an inclusive campus community, thereby enhancing the student experience at UC Berkeley. To this end, we provide quality services and programs that foster experiential learning opportunities and ensure a sustainable organization. We derive income from student fees, retail operations, vending, food service, and a variety of self-operated units such as the Art Studio, Creative Lab, and Events Services. We manage and operate multiple facilities including the Lower Sproul Student Union Complex, Anthony Hall and Anna Head Alumnae Hall, which house the ASUC student government, Graduate Assembly, Multi-Cultural Center, Public Service Center, LEAD Center, SERC, Basic Needs and much more. Finally, we provide financial and accounting services to approximately 25 ASUC Government Officers, Graduate Assembly Executive Officers, and over 1,400 student groups and 40 student publications. The Student Union is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and reports to the Dean of Students.ResponsibilitiesOverview:The Project Analyst, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for enabling the success of the Student Union's commercial partners in order to provide high quality service in the Student Union and to generate revenue to support programs and services. This position will assist commercial partners in navigating the operational, policy and practice requirements of the University. This includes partnering with the outside organizations to understand their operating processes, analyze business and student/campus community trends, make service model and strategic recommendations to vendors and the Student Union Executive Director (ED) and Board of Directors and to otherwise facilitate a seamless delivery of services. This position is also responsible for developing contracts with business and retail partners as well as tracking compliance with those contracts after their implementation. This analyst is responsible for coordinating between vendors and the various units within the Student Union (including facilities, marketing and the finance teams). Provides analyses for commercial business in Student Union working directly with all levels of directors and commercial partners. Researches and summarizes best practices in field and makes recommendations for business model and sales improvements. Analyzes commercial trends and building usage patterns and works with vendors to remain responsive to the needs of the organization and the campus community. Identifies opportunities for business development and revenue generation growth. Conducts post- implementation analysis to determine the need for further enhancements, finer distinctions and / or additional process / policy components. Performs ad hoc, analytical studies on a wide variety of policies, programs and issues which are complex in nature. Coordinates implementation with cross-organizational departments or external entities as needed. Be the point of contact and liaise between commercial partners and the various Student Union units. Includes coordinating the facilities needs of vendors and triaging facilities and operations issues as appropriate. Responsible for onboarding vendors and establishing building access. Involves working with the marketing team and business partners on marketing/promotional opportunities in and around the Student Union. Involves researching and pursuing opportunities to promote Student Union vendors in broader campus setting and beyond (including in virtual settings). Coordinates efforts with a variety of external and internal contacts; researches organizational structures, policies and procedures and summarizes best practices in field. Develops vendor contracts under the direction of the ED and the Board of Directors. Works directly with campus procurement, vendors, and campus real estate to ensure compliance with appropriate campus policies and regulations. Ensures vendor accountability with business contracts including on time financial reporting and revenue transfers. Includes management of peripheral business needs including timely renew of or transfer of liquor licenses. Proposes, leads and / or participates on policy and planning committees and working groups. Attends Board meetings and reports to the Board as asked.Required Qualifications Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality. Demonstrated analytical / problem-solving skills. Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes. Strong policy analysis techniques. Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs. Strong skills in analyzing, researching and synthesizing large amounts of data for preparing sound and relevant proposals / analyses. Experience working with various commercial partners.
