We are seeking an energetic, experienced and hands-on National Sales Manager to manage existing accounts and to prospect new accounts. The ideal candidate will be able to manage and grow existing accounts and identify and make contact with new retail accounts that are a good fit for our product line, prepare complete and convincing proposals, build lasting relationships with the accounts and work seamlessly with brokers. ONLY Candidates with relevant category or industry experience will be considered.
Position Overview: The National Sales Manager is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the company’s retail sales efforts both in branded and private label, which are consistent with the company’s strategic plan. This includes managing the national and regional broker sales teams, establishing sales goals, promotional programs and working with key customers and prospects. The NSM has responsibility to adhere to profit & margin guidelines, including management of the Retail Sales Division’s budget, promotions and revenue. This person will collaborate with company’s Managing partner in the development of the annual sales plan and work closely with all other company departments including production.
Main Sales duties & responsibilities:
Prospect, develop and Increase sales with Mass Merchants, Specialty Markets, Drug and Grocery Chain and Clubs
Open, maintain and grow existing accounts
Continuous development of new sales opportunities
Develop and execute plans to achieve annual sales targets
Evolve strategies to penetrate key accounts
Management of Independent Sales Representatives and Broker Groups
Attend major trade shows
Essential Job Functions:
Manages domestic regional and national broker sales teams calling on both National and Regional Retailers within the General Freezer and Deli/PF area.
Develops and manages revenue and promotional programs and sales targets in conjunction with key broker and retailers.
Leads sales efforts within the company, from the development of existing sales channels to execution of specific sales strategies. Delivers annual sales revenue consistent with the company’s expectations.
Frequently travels throughout the United States, including attending key customer meetings and meetings with members of the sales team in their respective territories. Attends trade events throughout the year.
Helps develop annual sales plan that integrates with the marketing plan and is consistent with the company’s goals.
Oversees all sales promotions, as contained in the annual plan, and has awareness of promotional effectiveness.
Leads the company’s efforts in demand forecasting.
Monitors competitive environment, including specific data on direct competitors, their products, sales strategies and pricing.
Actively participates in the company’s new product development efforts.
Collaborates with the Managing Partner in developing overall pricing strategy and makes product-specific pricing recommendations.
Maintains and improves existing distribution model, including distributors and direct DC distribution.
Develops and maintains various channel strategies for all business.
Provide monthly updates of progress on the annual sales plan.
Maintains relationships with influential industry leaders and key strategic associates.
Advocates marketing programs and processes within the sales area of focus.
Coordinates with Production, Shipping, Finance Departments to ensure that maximum productivity and efficiency and is achieved.
This position has supervision over National and Regional brokers.
This position reports to the Managing Partner
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Skilled in interacting, communicating, and presenting to brokers and customers.
Ability to drive issues to resolution by problem-solving.
Demonstrated leadership abilities that gain positive results through excellent sales and management skills.
Possesses strong knowledge of company products.

A minimum of 8 years sales experience preferably in the food distribution/food brokerage business required.
Proven and demonstrable experience of calling on National and Regional Supermarket Retailers
Relationship-building skills, technical savvy, and creativity. Strong planning, scheduling and organizational skills.
Strong ability to Manage relationships with brokers foster their performance
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, and/or other related field, or experience commensurate with this position required.
A minimum of 5 years of managing and/or supervisory experience required.
The primary work environment for this position is within an at-home office anywhere in the USA (48) states. Preferable near an Airport. Regular trips to Philadelphia will be required on an as needed basis.
