The manager, scientific and regulatory affairs is responsible for managing and executing regulatory implementation efforts and projects impacting the consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry and GMA’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the senior director, scientific and regulatory affairs, this role will support regulatory efforts that enhance the intersection of advancing the CPG industry’s agenda and meeting expectations of the American consumer.
Key areas of responsibility:
Work collaboratively to keep informed of the regulatory landscape.
Support identification of issues and opportunities for CPG within regulatory affairs.
Contribute to member communications related to priorities, issues and opportunities within regulatory affairs.
Liaise with members, U.S regulatory contacts, and other external stakeholders.
Support key regulatory meetings and industry events.
Manage projects on a variety of issues, including food safety, transparency and innovation.
Partner with internal divisions to execute against project plans.
Provide general expertise, assistance and representation on technical, regulatory, and scientific issues.
Coordinate and support meetings and activities with GMA member companies and stakeholders.
Analyze proposed regulations, guidance and other emerging issues as needed.
Support the collection of information for developing stakeholder comments, talking points and slide decks.
Experience & Education:
A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required. An advanced degree such as an MS is a plus.
2-4 years of related employment in the food, beverage, or personal care products required.
2-5 years with regulatory issues and policy required. Experience with FDA, USDA and EPA preferred.
1-3 years of project management experience required.
