Department Summary:
Michigan Dining is comprised of nineteen on-campus cafes and markets, nine residential dining halls, Michigan Bakery, and the Michigan Catering unit. Our 500 professional and 1,300 student employees are committed to creative, healthy, and nutritious foods, international cuisines, and sustainability throughout all dining operations.
Position Summary:
The Business Process Technology Analyst will report to the Associate Director of Systems and is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of the menu management system that supports menu planning, inventory tracking, and operational workflows. You will be the subject matter expert on how the system are structured across departments - ensuring consistency, usability, and understanding of operational goals. You will oversee system workflows, user access, configuration standards, implement pricing updates, audits, and event management software. You'll be the operational lead for the menu management platform, including database configuration, user workflows, and integrations with other dining systems.
Define and maintain data standards, naming conventions, and usage to ensure consistency across locations and departments.
Coordinate with team members responsible for recipes, nutrition, allergens, and procurement to ensure the database supports their needs.
Adjust system settings and user access, design and implement workflows to align with operational needs.
Implement price updates in the system in collaboration with culinary and procurement teams.
Resolve issues related to system functionality, performance, or data discrepancies; escalate technical issues to IT or vendor support.
Develop training materials, system documentation, and provide role-based training and support.
Partner with units across dining (culinary, nutrition, retail, catering, and sustainability) to ensure the MDining systems have efficient workflows for each unit, essential for ease of use and streamlining our business processes.
Collaborate with Student Life IT, Procurement, and Finance to align the menu system with broader institutional tools and policies.
Mentor student employees supporting system testing, data verification, or project assistance.
As part of the systems support team, collaborate with colleagues to share insights and ensure seamless integration and data consistency.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, and related field, or relevant experience of 2-3 years with some certifications or classes in a technology-related field.
Proficiency in common software and/or the equivalent Google applications.
A minimum of 1 year of experience training staff with varying levels of technical knowledge, using diverse training methods, and providing support
A minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service.
At least 1+ years of experience working with enterprise systems, either in an administrative, technical support, or foodservice setting.
Physical Requirements:
Maintain a static position for extended periods. Help with events and services in our dining halls, cafes, markets, and catering events.
Direct Reports:
Manage student staff.
This role may have reporting obligations under Title IX and Clery.
Authorization to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment and applicants for this position will not be sponsored for work visas.
Salary may vary depending on qualifications, experience, and education of the selected candidate.
Selected candidates whose start date is 4/1/2025 or after, will not be eligible for the university FY25-26 salary/merit plan unless otherwise notified.
